In the early hours of the winter Solstice, Monday, December 22, 2014, Lorraine Smith crossed over to a place of stardust and light. She was 92 years old.
Lorraine was a life-long resident of Oshkosh, born on August 16, 1922, to Sylvia and Walter Weideman. She married Herb Smith on his birthday, May 1, 1943, and celebrated 55 years together until his death on July 27, 1998.
May there be endless bolts of exquisite fabric, beautiful sewing machines, bountiful rummage sales, dogs galore, pounds of butter, the finest cookware, radiant Christmas decorations, rank bull riding, well-mixed Old Fashions and graceful dances with her beloved husband for evermore.
Lorraine will be deeply missed by her children, Muriel (Jack) Lynch, Randy (Jo Ann) Smith, and Sharlene (Jeff) Christensen, their families, a large community of extended family, and hundreds of friends including the dogs who knew where she kept the treats. Her family is in deep gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at The Waterford at Oshkosh, Heartland Hospice, and Mercy Medical Center.
A private burial has taken place, and a Celebration of Life event is being planned for May 2, 2015. Memorials can be sent in her name to Oshkosh Area Humane Society, Heartland Hospice, the Larsen/Winchester Lions Club, or directly to the family.
If you wish please send online condolences to muellerfuneralhomeinc.com.

Sympathy and peace to Lorraine's large family of relatives and friends. I always enjoyed sharing sewing tidbits and ideas with her. She was a marvelous and talented lady, friend to all, and had a wonderful outlook on life. I will always treasure her 2014 Christmas letter, which speaks from her heart.

I am so happy that my last visit with her was so wonderful! I extend my condolences to all of her family and friends; she really loved all of you very much! You were so blessed to have her in your life. God Bless!
