Maureen Elise (Barr) Hoelzel of Oshkosh passed away unexpectedly on January 5, 2015, at the age of 69.
Maureen was a graduate of Marian College of Nursing, and worked as a Registered Nurse for 30 years at Theda Clark Medical Center. She married her loving husband, Joe in 1972, and had her only daughter, Erin in 1977.
Maureen celebrated the little things in life... beautiful sunsets, a bit of fun at the casino, trips to tropical locales, visiting with friends, watching the birds, and caring for her beloved cats. Her compassion, love, and care towards animals throughout her life were inspirational. Maureen was a loving and fun grandmother who enjoyed playing games, reading books, and sneaking cookies to her two grandchildren. Recently, she learned FaceTime to chat
with her grandkids most every day. She loved hearing their songs and goofy stories, since they could always make her laugh.
She is survived by her husband Joseph Hoelzel, daughter Erin and son-in-law John Eric Jacobsen, Aunt Bernice DiVall, and grandchildren Mila (5yrs) and Eller (3yrs) Jacobsen.
Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lila Mae Barr.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, January 10, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mara Rivera officiating. Inurnment will be in the spring in the Winneconne Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Theda Clark Medical Center for their expertise, tireless efforts, and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers the family would prefer gifts to the Town of Vinland Fire Department and the Oshkosh Humane Society.
If you wish please submit online condolences to muellerfuneralhomeinc.com.
