Leslie Walton Helgeson, age 95, of Neenah, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2015, at Park View Health Center in Oshkosh. He was born January 6, 1920, in Winchester, son of the late Clarence and Ella Helgeson. Leslie lived in the Winchester and Neenah areas most of his life and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Winchester, and Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Neenah. He will be remembered for the many homes in the area that were built by him and his partners.
Leslie married Hazel Evelyn Mickelson on August 17, 1940, and she preceded him in death on May 1, 1966.
Leslie is survived by wife Mildred Hansen whom he married on October 17, 1974; one daughter and three sons: Diane Pontiff, Oshkosh; Leslie Jr. (Maureen) Helgeson, Trinity, Florida; Robert (Trudy) Helgeson, Cape Coral, Florida; Richard Helgeson, Soldiers Grove; two step-children: Susan (Harlan) Gleason, Hustisford; Larry (Sigrid) Hansen, Madison; fourteen grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents and first wife Hazel, Les was also preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Skafte.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at The Valley VNA 1535 Lyon Dr. Neenah. Inurnment will follow at Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Winchester.
Les' family requests that memorials be given to Park View Health Center in Oshkosh and Heartland Hospice, Fond du Lac.
