Earl S. Nelson, age 90, of Winchester, died Saturday, April, 11, 2015, at Care Partners in Winneconne. He was born November 26, 1924, in Neenah to Nels and Julia (Thompson) Nelson. Earl was a graduate of Winneconne High School. On August 22, 1953; he married Betty McNamee at Grace Lutheran Church, Winchester. Earl farmed his entire life, taking over the family farm from his father. He was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church in Winchester, where he was the Sunday school superintendent for 35 years and was a past choir member. Earl was a 4-H leader and served as the Winchester Town Clerk for 28 years. For his tireless efforts and commitment to the Town of Winchester, the Earl S. Nelson Town Park was dedicated in his name in 1999. He enjoyed photography, painting, stamp collecting, and carpentry.
Earl is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Nelson, of Winchester; four children, Roger (Mary) Nelson, of Oshkosh; Robert (Patti) Nelson, of Winchester; Julie (Jeff) Peterson, of Brookfield; Diana (Randy) Aronson, of Winneconne; grandchildren, Lisa Nelson (Patrick Gelhar), Eric (Brandi) Nelson, Sara Nelson (Rob Zachman), Jonathon (Lindsay) Nelson, Tad (Katie) Peterson, Nathan (Jeanna) Peterson, Joseph (Anna) Aronson, Daniel (Cherie) Aronson; great-grandchildren, Michael, Dominic, Vincent, Griffyn, Garrett, Melia, Gabe, Kaleb, Ava, Mayci, Jude, Hazel, Truitt, and two on the way; two sisters, June Thompson, Neita (Lowell) Holverson; in-laws, Rose Krause, June Nichols, Donna (Frank) Samuelson, Dave (Cleo) McNamee; and many other nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Earl was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, Wallace Nelson, Alvin Nelson, and Mildred Kiesow; a granddaughter, Amy Peterson; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. until noon at Grace Lutheran Church of Winchester, 8396 Steeple Hill Dr. Larsen. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Dan Luett officiating. Burial will take place immediately after in Grace Lutheran Cemetery. Light lunch to follow in the church.
We would like to thank Jeff and David, as well as the wonderful staff at Care Partners - Winneconne who provided loving and compassionate care allowing his quality of life to be the best it could possibly be over these past several years.
We praise God for Earl's life, love, and friendship. He is gone from our sight for now but we will see him again one day. Enjoy the peace and quiet until we get there, Daddy. We love you!

Our sincere sympathy ....we remember Earl w/such fond memories. Recently we drove past the house and Steve and I questioned as to where "The Nelson's" were. You see for years we stopped off at the house to buy popcorn. Earl/Betty always had time to talk w/us. They are truly missed.
