Kathleen M. Quigley, age 94, of Eureka, passed away, Friday, April 10, 2015, at home. She was born July 20, 1920, at the old St. Mary's Hospital in Oshkosh, the daughter of the late Leon E. and Helen (Crowley) Quigley.
Kathleen was a 1938 graduate of Winneconne High School, earned her RN degree from St. Mary's Nurses Training School in Madison, and BSN from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She served her country in World War II as a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army Nurse Corp (Pacific Area). Kathleen's career in nursing included: Curative Workshop, supervisor at Mercy Hospital and Pleasant Acres, Mercy School of Nursing instructor, and Universal Foundry, all in Oshkosh, supervisor at Juliette Manor in Berlin, and part-time at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Princeton, retiring in 1987. She was a member of Winnebagoland District Nurses and American Associations, was a Campfire leader, and a member of various bowling leagues. Kathleen was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling in the states, and liked playing cards (Canasta) with friends.
Kathleen is survived by twin daughters, Penny (Edwin) Baugrud, of Pine River; Patricia Larsen, of Eureka; grandchildren, Laura Natrop, Barbara Bloch, Tammy Gilles, Tracy Larsen; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Brittney Natrop, Jennifer Burch, Stephanie and Nathan Van Rooy, Chris Hunt, Peter, Inert, Katie, and Kayla Gilles; six great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Leon K. (Dolores) Quigley, of Winneconne; sisters, Josephine Lenz, of Oshkosh; Ruth Mills, of California; Margaret (George) Gordus, of California; brother-in-law, Boyd Chittim; sister-in-law, Joyce Quigley; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding Kathleen in death were her parents; two grandsons, Kenneth and Troy Larsen; a sister, Irene Chittim; a brother, Edward Quigley; and two brothers-in-law, John Lenz, Sr. and Paul Mills.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, April 16, 2015, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A Rosary will be prayed on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Military Honors to follow. Burial will be on Friday, April 17 in St. Thomas Cemetery, town of Poygan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are being established for scholarships and Mass offerings.
