Lorna Ross Trautman, 92 years "young", of the town of Vinland, died Sunday, April 26, 2015, at home.
She was born June 29, 1922, in Milwaukee County at the home of her Aunt Jewel and Uncle Donald Scott to parents John H. and Kathryn G. (Wastell) Young. Lorna's first home was in Linden, Wisconsin until age 4 when her father moved his dental practice back to Milwaukee, and Lorna and her family lived in several places in the Milwaukee area, finally settling on Pine Avenue, in a home built by her dad and brother.
Lorna was a 1940 graduate of Bay View High School, and she still kept in touch with classmates from her grade school and high school. She began work at Marshall & Illsley Bank as a page, eventually working her way up to head teller at the M & I Branch Bank. On August 23, 1947, Lorna married fellow Bay View graduate Robert S. Trautman, and they enjoyed 65 years together before Robert's death in 2013.
As a longtime resident of Hales Corners, Lorna was a dedicated poll worker for the Village, and a founding member of Heritage Presbyterian Church in Muskego, where she served as an elder, deacon, deaconess, assistant treasurer, and sang in the choir for 45 years. After moving to Vinland, she became a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Winneconne.
She enjoyed traveling, sewing, gardening, and being helpful. Lorna was a 30 year survivor of breast cancer.
Lorna is survived by a daughter, Susan Forbes, of the town of Vinland; a son, Dennis (Cynthia) Trautman, of Savannah, Georgia; sister-in-law, Alma Porter; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
Along with her parents and husband, Lorna was also preceded her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Adolph and Suzannah Trautmann; a son-in-law, George Forbes; her brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Frances Young; sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Eugene Raychel; brothers-in-law, Walter (Mabel) Trautman, Art Trautmann, Tom Hammett, Charlie Porter; and a nephew, Dale Young.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Mara Rivera officiating. A time of fellowship with light refreshments will follow the service.
A visitation will also be on Thursday, May 7, 2015, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Heritage Presbyterian Church, S63 W13761 College Ave. Muskego. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the church on Thursday with Pastor William Humphreys officiating. A time of fellowship with light refreshments will follow the service.
Inurnment will be in the Arlington Park Mausoleum, Greenfield.
A memorial in Lorna's name will be established.
