Ron "Uncle Buck" Furman, Sr.
Oshkosh, Wisconsin

With family present, Ronald Dean Furman, Sr. joined his beloved wife in heaven on Saturday, November 28, 2009, after a brief illness. He was born to Tisdale P. Sr. and Hazel (Vosburg) on May 9, 1938 in Oshkosh. He attended Oshkosh High School and joined the Navy in 1955. He married Alice Marie (Martin) on October 4, 1958.
After the military, Ron was employed by Mercury Marine; Winnebago County Highway Department, and owned and operated Ron's Shell Station until it closed. He was also employed and retired from Zillges Trucking in Oshkosh. Ron was a member of Martin Luther Evangelical Luther Church in Oshkosh. He enjoyed bowling, camping, going up north, going to the casino, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
Ron is survived by his four children: Ronald D. (Edna) Furman, Jr., Oshkosh; Cindy Lou Schultz, Winneconne; Douglas G. (Samantha) Furman, Winneconne; and Marilyn K. Furman, Oshkosh. He is further survived by eight grandchildren: Tim Furman, Juneau; Julie Furman, Oshkosh; Neal Furman (Lisa Schmidt), Neenah; Chad and Catelynn Schultz, Winneconne; Alyssa, Corrina, and Ryan Furman, Winneconne; and Crystal Schuppe, Oshkosh. Ron was blessed with two great-grandchildren: Emily Furman, Oshkosh; and Mallory Furman, Neenah. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters: Dona Berens, Winneconne; Ted (Colleen) Furman, Oshkosh; Judy (Ron) Buser, Neenah; Jean Furman, Oshkosh; Linda (Chuck) Pavlak, Oshkosh; Bob (Carmen) Furman, Neenah; Dick (Joanne) Furman, New London; Randy (Cathy) Furman, Oshkosh; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; his parents, Tisdale, Sr. and Hazel Furman; a brother, Chuck; and two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Schreiber, and Howie Berens.
Per Ron's wishes cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, Winneconne, with Pastor Nathan Ericson officiating. Inurnment with military honors will be on Friday, December 4, at 11:00 a.m. at Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
