Ronald C. Koerner, age 78, of Winneconne, died Thursday, July 16, 2015, from a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's, surrounded by his family at home.
He was born January 30, 1937, in Neenah to the late Alphonse and Florence (Buss) Koerner. Ron was a 1955 graduate of Neenah High School and completed a 4 year apprenticeship as a millwright. He served his country in the Wisconsin National Guard then in the United States Marine Corps. On November 12, 1960, Ron married Merry Ann Buchanan at St. Mary Catholic Church in Winneconne. He worked as a journeyman millwright until retirement. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was always willing to help others. He was a life member of Twin City Rod & Gun Club, Neenah, and member of the Knights of Columbus Winneconne Council #8810, the Crivitz Bowhunters, St. Mary Catholic Church, Winneconne, and had been on the Town of Stephenson Fire Dept.
Ron had a great love of the north woods. He enjoyed his "heaven on earth" near Crooked Lake where he spent many years hunting and fishing. Ron spent countless hours teaching his children and grandsons all the tricks of fishing and hunting in the north woods. The highlight of his summers were having his grandsons spend a week with him and his son Allan fishing. He also loved spending time on "The Farm" in Winneconne where he enjoyed time with his daughter and her family.
Ron is survived by his wife of 54 years, Merry Koerner, of Winneconne; daughter, Michelle LaMarche, of Winneconne; two sons, Allan Koerner, of Crooked Lake and Winneconne; Scott Koerner, Sr., of Neenah; grandsons, Joshua, Jordan, and Jacob LaMarche, of Winneconne; Scott Koerner, Jr., of Neenah; three brothers, Richard (Jackie) Koerner, of Neenah; Eugene Koerner, of King; Terry Koerner, of Tomah; stepsisters, Kathy Klassen, of Greenville; Debbie Demars, of Menasha; Joan Arndt, of Wilmington, Illinois; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Along with his parents, Ron was also preceded in death by a brother, David Koerner; stepmother, Dorothy (Jacobson) Koerner; and a stepbrother, Ronald Jacobson.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, July 20, 2015, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 210 Pleasant Dr. Winneconne. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 6:00 p.m. at the church with Fr. Doug LeCaptain and Sr. Pam Biehl officiating. Entombment with military honors will be on Tuesday, July 21 at 9:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Neenah.
Ron's family would like to thank Dr. Amy Cvengros and the ThedaCare Internal Medicine Neenah staff who took great care of Ron and his family through the years he battled Alzheimer's. Also special thanks to ThedaCare at Home Hospice staff during the final and most difficult days of his life. Rest in Peace Ron; husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; until we meet again.

Ron was my cousin and we had some good times together as kids growing up. My favorite trip was always to Neenah from Mosinee when we would come down to visit. I am sorry I can't be there in person to see Mary and express my condolences.

Ron was always fun to be around. So enjoyed the times we were together... he was the one that took me squirrel hunting the first time. He had such a big heart & love for life... he will be missed by all. Until we meet again.
