William J. Parsons, age 76, of Oshkosh died Saturday, September 19, 2015, at home. He was born February 7, 1939, in Winneconne on N. Sixth Ave. at the "Foot of the Garden" to the late Clarence and Margaret (Krohn) Parsons. Growing up in Winneconne was a great experience for Bill and some of his fondest memories were going to school at the Annex Building with Mrs. Riley as his teacher and running around with Marty Coughlin in Winneconne and Eagle River. Bill was a 1957 graduate of Winneconne High School, where he was vice-president of his senior class. In high school he played on the football, basketball, and track teams, and he was the captain of the basketball team. Following high school Bill joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served 2 years in Camp Pendleton, California. After his honorable discharge he went to work at the Wisconsin Conservation Dept. for 3 years, then at Morgan Doors in Oshkosh for 6 years, and after that Bill was employed at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh for 30 years until his retirement. Health problems stopped him from doing some of the things he enjoyed, such as bow hunting. On October 3, 1986, Bill married Purita Pascual at the Pioneer Inn in Oshkosh, and they lived in Winneconne and Oshkosh.
Bill is survived by his wife, Purita, of Oshkosh; a brother, Charles (Diana) Parsons, of Holland, Michigan; a sister, Susan (David) Nolte, of Omro; nieces and nephews, Nathan (Shawn) Parsons, Eric Nolte, Robyn (John Paul) Kloss, Dana (Tracy) Phillips, Shelby Nolte, Joy Nolte; great-nieces and great-nephews, Spencer Kloss, Haley Jo Kloss, Devin Parsons, Morgan Parsons, Linnea Parsons, Hannah Nigl, Peyton Nigl, Lauren "Ruthie" Nigl, Josie Nolte, Mason Nolte, Brody Meurer, Caiden Phillips, Griffin Phillips; and other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, Bill was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Matt and Mary Vanderlough, Albert and Anna Krohn; and aunts and uncles.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, October 3, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. until Noon at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at Noon at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Willadsen officiating.
Purita would like to thank the staff at Mercy Medical Center for the great care Bill received and most especially the Affinity Hospice team for their excellent care and compassion during his illness. A thank you also to Pastor Tom Willadsen from First Presbyterian Church for his visits and lifting Bill's spirits during his time of need.
If you wish please submit online condolences to muellerfuneralhomeinc.com.
I'd loved you till the end, my love. You rest in peace now and don't worry about me-everything will be alright. Purita.

Bill was a good friend. We would kid each other about the Badgers vs the Hawkeyes. He is probably rooting on the Badgers today. Thanks for the memories.

Bill was the "maintenance guy" in Swart Hall when I chaired the Sociology Department there. Bill's appearance in our offices always lifted our spirits--he was just full of positive energy. I remain very thankful that he was a part of our world.
