Evelyn M. Spiegelberg, age 96, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh. She was born May 14, 1919, in the town of Winchester to the late Freeman and Amy (Hanson) Johnson. On March 20, 1941, she married Walter "Wally" J. Spiegelberg in Wittenberg and they made their home in the town of Winneconne. Wally preceded Evelyn in death on October 25, 1988. Evelyn was a member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Winneconne and had been a member of the Butte des Morts Ladies Guild.
Evelyn is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Janet Spiegelberg, of Oshkosh; one grandson, Harold Spiegelberg and his fiancée, Deborah Ahrens, of Oshkosh; two granddaughters, Kay Spiegelberg and friend, David Stiller, of Oshkosh; Judy Spiegelberg and friend, Clifton McDonald, of Winneconne; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two step-grandsons; six step-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Nimmer, of Oshkosh; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents and husband, Evelyn was also preceded in death by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Glenn and Lorraine Johnson, Raymond and Angie Johnson.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, 8 S. Fourth St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at Noon at the church with Pastor Mark Albrecht officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
A memorial is being established for St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Winneconne.
Evelyn's family would like to thank the staffs of Park View Health Center and the ICU at Mercy Medical Center for all of the care and concern shown to her.
