Clara Winnekens, age 93, of Winneconne, died Sunday, January 17, 2016, at the loving home of Anne and Jeff Baldwin. She was born February 14, 1922, in Eaton, Wisconsin to the late Nick and Anna Pieschek. Clara served her country in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. On April 24, 1945, she married Alvin Winnekens at St. Cyril & Methodius Church in Eaton, and they made their home in Eaton until 1986 at which time they moved to Winneconne. In October of 1997 Clara was indoctrinated at the Women's Memorial in Washington D.C. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and "the shake of the day". Clara was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Winneconne.
Clara is survived by six children, Galen Winnekens, of Green Bay; Barbara (Russ) Young, of Winneconne; Jim (JoAnn) Winnekens, of Winneconne; Mark Winnekens, of Green Bay; Anne (Jeff) Baldwin, of Winneconne; Karen (Duke) Truttmann, of Green Bay; her grandchildren and great-children, Dustin (Betsy) Winnekens and children, Spencer and Zachary; Anthony "Tony" Winnekens and children, Aubree, Katarina, and Dillon; Cindy (Winnekens) Champeau and child, Charlie; Danny Winnekens, Kyle Baldwin, Devin Baldwin, Taylor Truttmann, Cole Truttmann; a sister-in-law, Regina Pieschek; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Along with her parents, Clara was also preceded in death by her husband Alvin on April 10, 1994; and her sisters and brothers, Helen (Joe) Cherney, Emily (Jack) Gezella, Gertrude (Gordon) Danielski, Regina (Don) Van Ess, Margaret (Larry) Winnekens, Harry (Agnes) Pieschek, Felix Pieschek, Clem Pieschek; and a special nephew, Robert "Bobby" Winnekens.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, January 21, 2016, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, January 22 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church 210 Pleasant Dr. Winneconne. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Military honors will follow. Burial will be in the Winneconne Cemetery.
