David Robert Piering "David R", "Neighbor Dave"," brother Dave", "Uncle Davey-Wavey" age 54, of Winneconne, got his wings and flew off to join his mom and his friends in heaven on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at 11:45 p.m. at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh.
He was born March 20, 1961, in Milwaukee to Frederick and Barbara (Johnson) Piering.
David is survived by his father, Fred Piering; sisters and brother, Pam (Scott) Adams, Tim (Doralee) Piering, and Kathi (Jeff) Gauger. Uncle Davey-Wavey was a beloved life teacher to his nieces and nephews, Jake, Nick, and Abigail Adams; Danielle Piering; and Ashley, Mollie and Gracie Gauger. They will miss him dearly, but his cheerful warrior spirit, which he left with
them, will live on in their hearts and minds forever.
He was preceded in death by his mom, Barbara Piering; Grandma Sylvia Johnson; Grandmother Leone Piering; Uncle Bill Johnson; and a multitude of friends.
David R, Neighbor Dave was a beloved and dear dear friend to so many folks in and near his homes in Winneconne, Oshkosh, Poygan, and Shawano. These friends were Dave's second family and they loved, supported, and cared for Dave for the 30 years that he lived in the area. The dedication this friend family has shown in the past 18 months during Dave's battle with cancer has been remarkable. The love, support, hours and hours of time at doctor, chemo
and radiation appointments, driving, donating, helping, guiding and super-loving that this family gave Dave is amazing. They are a beautiful part of his life and Dave's dad and siblings are so grateful that Dave was surrounded by such a strong circle of love. As he repeated often during his last few hours - he was truly blessed.
Dave loved his life, loved spending time with friends at the bar, on the lake, camping, fishing, hiking, and drinking.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, March 6, 2016, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 2881 Division Rd., Jackson, WI 53037 Phone (262) 677-3176. A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the church. At David R's request - a party type shin-dig is in the works for The Hill Tavern in Poygan.
Donations in David R's name, in lieu of flowers, to the American Cancer Society, Caring Bridge, Dr. Karen Gremminger's office, or Mercy Medical Center are appreciated.
