Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Marcy D. Bahrke (née Herbst), age 90, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016, at her home in Allenville surrounded by family. She was born on March 24, 1925, at St. Mary's Hospital in Oshkosh, WI, daughter of Anton and Margaret (Conlin) Herbst. Marcy attended Lake School in Poygan, graduated from Winneconne High School in 1942, and graduated from Oshkosh Teachers College in 1944. She taught rural school in Mikesville and in Poygan.
Marcy married Milton Bahrke on June 15, 1946, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Poygan. They have two sons, Douglas Bahrke and Dennis (Debbie) Bahrke; and three daughters, Marianne (Donald) Fauk, Susan Kay (Jay) Konetzke, and Terri Lou (Jack) Richardson.
Marcy was always helping anyone that needed help. She was once dubbed the "Allenville
Angel." Having learned this by the example of her mother and aunt May Conlin, it came to her
naturally.
She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Poygan until her marriage and has since been a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Oshkosh. One of her proudest endeavors was being a member of The Friends of St. Thomas, of which she was the secretary. Having been baptized, had First Communion, Confirmation, and Marriage there, it was very special to her.
Along with her husband and children, her survivors include seven grandchildren: Tamara (Ed) Stander, Derek Fauk, Samantha and Harrison Bahrke, and Benjamin, Kate Lou and Lauren May Konetzke. She is also survived by great-granddaughter, Katerina; and by Elmira "Cookie" Tovar, whom she cared for after the death of her mother.
Also surviving her are two brothers, Donald (Donna) Herbst and Arden (Ellen) Herbst; sisters-in-law, June (Raymond) Breaker and Mona Bahrke; brother-in-law, Harold Bahrke; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her mother and father; dear aunt May; sister, Arlette (Jim) Lee; brother, Harold (Nancy) Herbst; sisters-in-law, Carol Bahrke, Gladys (Wilmer) Borchardt and Leone (Bob) Vorpahl; brother-in-law, George Bahrke; and many special friends, especially
Darlene Eckstein and Florence Romberg.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, March 18, 2016, from Noon to 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 210 Pleasant Dr. Winneconne. A funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the church with Fr. Jim Jugenheimer officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Thomas
Cemetery, town of Poygan.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Marcy's name.
Marcy's family would like to thank Barbie and Chris for all of the care and compassion shown to her.

Mike and I are sorry for your loss. There is never a good time to lose a parent, a person you have spent a lifetime with. The memories during that lifetime will hopefully comfort your family. She treated your hearts with tender loving care and now that she's gone, she still will be there.

Losing your loved ones is the hardest thing we all go through. Leaning on friends and family helps us all to live on. My thoughts and prayers go out to your entire family. God Bless Ski

I remember her home cooked meals and her smiling face and playing with Sue and having a crush on her son Doug. I will keep these memories of her warm in my heart. God Bless her! (Nancy Herbst's little sister)
