Shirley Becker Baitinger, born March 7, 1929, died on March 23, 2016, she was 87 years old. She graduated from Winneconne High School and married Donald Baitinger in 1947. Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family. Shirley worked as a bookkeeper for 24 years and then at the Fin & Feather Gift Shop for 5 years. She volunteered at Bethesda and was active at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling and sewing.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Donald Baitinger; son, John Baitinger (Susan Burgard); daughter, Susan Baitinger Nickel (Tom Nickel); grandchildren, Rob Baitinger (Liv Malle), Sara Nickel Flack (Eric Flack), Rachael Nickel Stoner (Jeff Stoner); great-grandchildren, Sasha Baitinger, Kalin Baitinger, Sidney Flack, Anna Flack, Jacob Stoner, Logan Stoner, and Matthew Stoner. Shirley is also survived by her sister, Maureen Becker Miller, of Corpus Christi, Texas; niece, Anne Miller Brock (Richard Brock), of Dallas, Texas, and their three children; nephew, Robert Miller (Susan Miller), of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and their two children.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mabel C. Johnson Becker; her father, William F. Becker; and a son, David J. Baitinger.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, March 26, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. until Noon at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church 8 S. Fourth St. Winneconne. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at Noon at the church with Pastor Mark Albrecht officiating. Burial will be in the Winneconne Cemetery.
The family would like to extend special thanks for the wonderful care Shirley received from the staff at Park View Health Center, and from Affinity Hospice Care.
A memorial has been established for St. Paul's Lutheran Church and cancer research.
