Shirley M. Krings, age 95, of Omro, died Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Park View Health Center in Oshkosh. She was born May 17, 1920, in the town of Rushford to the late Ralph and Avis (Hackney) King. In 1940 Shirley married Alvin Krings in Oshkosh and beginning in 1949 they farmed together in the town of Omro.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Omro and its Altar Society, the Omro Women's Service League, and the Red Cross who awarded her for over 30 years of service. Shirley made wedding cakes for many people and catered parties with her friend Frances Markert. She enjoyed baking and ruined many diets with her homemade pies, chocolate chip cookies, caramels, and fudge.
Shirley is survived by a daughter and three sons, Karen (Tom) Weeks, of Renton, Washington; Robert Krings, of Omro; Richard Krings, of Pewaukee; Mark (Wendy) Krings, of Omro; dear friend, David Faust, of Florida; two sisters, Ardyce Zillges, Phyllis Williams, both of Oshkosh; sister-in-law, Florence King, of Omro; eleven grandchildren, Bradley (Jackie) and Bryan (Pam) Weeks; Mary, Paul (Donna), John, and David Krings; Ronelle Krings; Tiffany, Ross (Elizabeth), Rod (Suzie), and Scott (Liz) Krings; twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous close nieces and nephews; and friends.
Along with her parents, Shirley was also preceded in death by her husband Alvin December 22, 2003; five brothers, Orrin (Mil), Philip, Sidney (Betty), Robert (Jeanette), and Ronald King; two sisters, Marion (Earl) Hall and Alyce (Floyd) Gorr; and brothers-in-law, Eugene Zillges and Lyle Williams.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, April 30, 2016, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 730 Madison Ave. Omro. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Fr. Edward Looney and Sr. Pam Biehl officiating. Burial will follow in the Omro Cemetery.
