James L. Helmer, "Chief", age 55, of White Lake died Monday, April 25, 2016. He was born March 25, 1961, in Wichita, Kansas to Robert and Mae (Buchanan) Helmer.
Jim was a 1979 graduate of White Lake High School and graduated as a machinist from North Central Technical College. He earned his Eagle Scout as a Lone Scout and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. Jim also served as scoutmaster of Troop 47, White Lake. Jim has forever been a lifelong Boy Scout. For over 30 years he was employed with Shotgun Eddy Raft Rental in White Lake and had also worked for Merit Gear, Antigo.
Jim is survived by his mother, Mae Helmer; wife, Cindy Helmer; a son, Brandon Helmer; step-son, Steven Davie; sisters and brothers, Nancy J. Skifstad, Robert J. Helmer, Kerri Rodriguez, Ken (Lisa) Helmer; nieces and nephew, Samantha Helmer, Wesley Reif, Alita Rodriguez; and other relatives and friends.
Preceding Jim in death was his father, Robert L. Helmer.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, May 21, 2016, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Four Corners Assembly of God Church, N3891 Cty Rd P, White Lake (corner of Cty Rd P and Hwy 64). A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 21 at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Marvin Kindle officiating.
The family would like to thank the staff at Eastview Nursing Facility, Antigo, and Wausau Hospitals and UW Health Madison. Thank you to all family and friends who supported Jim in his courageous fight and all of his life endeavors.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.

Jim's love of the outdoors and Scouting is a legacy he leaves us all. I don't feel sorrow as I know Jim is in heaven resting with the angels. Jim I love you and I thank you for sharing your life with me and my family. Seeing you upstairs!
