James W. Stephens, age 69, of Oshkosh, died Sunday, May 1, 2016, at home. He was born August 15, 1946, in Ossining, New York to the late Harold and Mildred (Smith) Stephens.
Jim served his country in the U.S. Army as an Airborne Paratrooper, where he received commendation as a sharpshooter. On December 20, 1991, he married Karen Rose (Weidner/Larsen) in Oshkosh. Jim's career began in a retail yard in 1972 on Cape Cod. Since then he has experienced wholesale distribution, manufacturing, and incorporated Bentley Sales & Marketing in May on 1999. Jim takes personal pride in the team he has assembled and considers them part of his extended family. He founded the agency based on his personal philosophies of Credibility, Integrity, and a Strong Work Ethic. Jim will still be overseeing operations, but from a better viewpoint.
He was a member of the Daugherty-Hamilton American Legion Post 234 in Omro and Ridgeway Country Club.
Jim is survived by his wife, Karen Rose Stephens, of Oshkosh; children, Dawn Marie Stephens, of Virginia; Dennis (Victoria) Larsen, of Omro; Dana (Luke) Mosling, of Madison; grandchildren, Vaughan Larsen, of Milwaukee; Noah Larsen, Madelyn Larsen, Delilah Larsen, all of Omro; Logan Mosling, Rose Mosling, both of Madison; Addison Larsen, Aaliyah Larsen, both of Omro; a brother-in-law, Tom Noon; his best "furry" friend, Maggie Mae; and many loved nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Jim was also preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Noon.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, May 6, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne and will continue on Saturday, May 7 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Chaplain Kerry Kelley officiating. Burial and military rites will follow in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
