George C. Behringer, age 85, of Winneconne died Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Bella Vista in Oshkosh. He was born May 5, 1930, in Marshfield to the late Clarence and Lorinda (Smith) Behringer. George was a 1949 graduate of Owen High School, where he was a member of the football team. On June 21, 1950, he married Carrol Wesneski in Neillsville, and in 1952 they made their home in Winneconne, where they lived in the same house until 2015. In 1954, George began working for Courtney & Plummer, which later became Michels Materials, and he was employed there until his retirement in 1992. George liked to tinker, was a handyman, and built yard art including bird houses and windmills. George and Carrol enjoyed country and western dancing, and he was known for telling off-color stories.
George is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carrol Behringer; four children, Allan (Sharon) Behringer, of Neenah; Georgia (James) Meyer, of Marshfield; Diane (Chris) Dahlke, of Germantown; Donna (Mark) Weigt, of Franklin; grandchildren, Sara (Jeff) Seidling, Scott (Ashley) Behringer, William Meyer, Josh Weigt, Caleb Weigt, Eliana Weigt; a great-grandson, Elliott Seidling; a brother, Jake Behringer; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Along with his parents, George was also preceded in death by a brother, Don Behringer.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, May 9, 2016, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Weigt officiating.

We always enjoyed playing Sheepshead with George and Jean (carrol) He was a friendly and easy to get along with guy. We send our condolences to Jean and her family. you are in our thoughts and prayers.

George and Carrol were my neighbors for 65 years. And yes George could sure tell the jokes and get people laughing. His yard art was always a joy to look at. Will definitely miss him.
