Myrtle C. Hook, our precious, loving mother passed beyond the veil, peacefully, surrounded by family at her home on June 18, 2016, at 3:13 a.m.
She was born August 13, 1929, in Waukesha to the late Chancy and Lula (Irwin) Winegarden. On September 17, 1949, Myrtle married William Hook in Lodi, Wisconsin, and in 1962, they made their home in Winneconne. For 25 years, Myrtle was employed by J.I. Case/Ingersoll in Winneconne. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Winneconne, and the Eastern Star.
Myrtle is survived by five children, Cary Alan Hook, of Appleton; Steven Leroy (Marilyn) Hook, of Winneconne; Linda Harrah, of Winneconne; Nancy (Tom) Haanen, of Oshkosh; Patricia Khan, of Wauwatosa; twelve grandchildren, Tracy (David) Melhorn, of California; Kabe Harrah, Kristy (Scott) Ross, of Ripon; William "Billy" (Jessica) Hook, of Texas; Ann Toby, of Appleton, Jennifer (Paul) Ziemba, of Montana; Kate Pickard, of Neenah; Jeremy (Meghan) Hook, of Neenah; Brian (Becky) Harrah, of Michigan; Justin (Angelica) Hook, of Fond du Lac; Siraj Khan, of Wauwatosa; Ejaz Khan, of Wauwatosa; twenty-one great-grandchildren; sister, Doloris Moore; sister-in-law, May Winegarden; brothers-in-law, Robert (Betty) Hook, Wayne (Alice) Hook, George (Dorothy) Hook, Richard (Sandy) Hook, John (Carolyn) Hook; four half-sisters, Mary Lou, Linda, Sandra, Sherri; and thirty-eight nieces and nephews.
Preceding Myrtle in death was her darling husband of 62 years, Bill in 2011; her mother, Lula Winegarden; her father, Chancy Winegarden, and his second wife, Doris; brother and sister-in-law, Lewis and Dorothy Winegarden, and two of their children, Tom and Mary; sister and brothers-in-law, Jessie and Earl Scott, and three of their children, Earl, Jr., Elroy, and Sandy; brothers, Martin and Kenneth Winegarden; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Almond and Katherine Hook.
A family graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016, at the Winneconne Cemetery. Following the graveside service on Saturday an open house and lunch for family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Hook homestead at 420 S. Third Ave. in Winneconne for all who wish to reminisce with family, view photos, and celebrate the life of such an incredibly loving soul.

I had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful woman when she came to visit her son Cary. She was such a loving and sweet lady and will be missed. My thoughts are with her family during this difficult time.
