Norman "Norm" J. Flanigan, age 88, of the town of Poygan died Thursday July 7, 2016. He was born May 29, 1928, in the town of Poygan to the late John M. and Katherine E. (Ryan) Flanigan. Norm was a 1945 graduate of Winneconne High School. On September 4, 1948, he married Bernice Lee at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Poygan. Norm farmed his entire life in the town of Poygan, and he had also worked as a milk hauler. He played baseball for the Winnebago Land Poygan Irish, and was a lifetime fan of the Chicago Cubs. Norm was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Poygan, and St. Mary Catholic Church, Winneconne, where he served as an usher. He truly enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Norm is survived by his wife of 67 years, Bernice Flanigan; two sons, Donald (Marsha) Flanigan, Russell (Sheila) Flanigan; a daughter, Carol (Scott) Gross; eight grandchildren, Ryan (Brenda) Flanigan, Tim Flanigan (Selena), Amy (Greg) Gunderson, Katie Flanigan (fiancé, Tim Hansen), Steven (April) Flanigan, Travis Gross (friend, Chris Bleck), Danielle (John) LeRoy, Cody (Emily) Gross; six great-grandchildren, Lydia, Graden, Norah, Rachel, Quinn, Cashton; sisters-in-law, Janice Lee, Louise Lee, Dorothy Flanigan; special friends, Bob and Virginia Botello; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Along with his parents, Norm was also preceded in death by three brothers, John, Robert, and James Russell Flanigan.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church 210 Pleasant Dr. Winneconne. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Fr. Doug LeCaptain officiating. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Poygan.
Norm's family wishes to thank the Affinity Visiting Nurses staff and the Winneconne-Poygan First Responders for all of their care and concern.
