Marlene Rita (Spoo) Dietz, age 82, of Winneconne, left us on August 17, 2016, at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton to go be with her loved ones.
She was born on February 3, 1934, in Niagara Falls, New York, the daughter of the late Harold and Hildegarde (Brautigan) Spoo. Marlene moved to Wisconsin with her parents in her early childhood. On February 7, 1959, she married Richard Lee Dietz. Marlene took pride in raising her two sons in Menasha where they resided until moving to Winneconne. She loved fishing, reading, bird watching, gardening, and her dogs, especially Hayley, her "babes". Her compassion for others was one of her outstanding attributes. She was always asking others about their wellbeing. Later, her two granddaughters were born. She adored them and spent much time with them in her last couple of years. Marlene loved to hear their stories, and to know what was new and going on in their lives.
Marlene is survived by a son, Michael J. Dietz, of Menasha; granddaughters, Danna Dietz, of Menasha; Kristen Dietz (fiancé, Jamison Buxton, and his son Mason Buxton), of Menasha; a sister-in-law, Sr. Suzanne Dietz, of Appleton; former wife of Michael, Joanne Dietz; and cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Along with her parents, Marlene was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard L. Dietz; a son, Steve Dietz; brothers, George Spoo Sr. and Harold Spoo; sister-in-law, Doris Spoo; niece, Kathleen Buck; long time neighbors and friends, Al and Colleen Klemp.
Honoring Marlene's wishes there will be no service held.
A big thank you from the family to Marlene's neighbors, the Meekers, Petermanns, and Klemps. Also a big heartfelt thank you to all of the nurses at ThedaCare Hospice and Cherry Meadows, especially Jeanne. To Tammy, and the mail ladies, for going the extra step and giving her a few minutes of your day and putting a smile on her face. Also, a thank you to any other family or friends who sent cards or made a phone to call to brighten Marlene's day.
Jesus Comforts His Disciples "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going." John 14:1-4
