We are saddened to hear of Jim's death, and express our condolences and sympathy to Mary, Laurie, and Jennifer and their families. We first met Jim and Mary when they lived on Minor St., in Appleton, across the street from us. He was a kind and unassuming man, an extremely loving and doting Father and husband. We remember when he drove his new Pontiac GTO, and the color was orange. He had the best smile anyone could possibly have, and he had the patience of Job. He was a perfectionist in most of what he did, both inside and outside of their newly built home on Carpenter St., custom built by Harvey Raether. When Mary was so busy as an elementary school teacher at McKinley School in Appleton, bringing home papers to grade and having parent-teacher conferences, Jim was always there, taking care of the girls, Laurie and Jennifer. He helped with the cleaning, doing dishes, whatever it took to make the home clean and comfortable. He did all of the work hiimself when they finished the lower level of the Carpenter St. home. We will always remember his laugh--strong one! We will always remember taking our bicycles, with rather crude carriers on the back, for our kids and riding through the cemetery trails in Riverside and St. Joseph Cemetery in Appleton. We enjoyed the backyard barbecues and drinking some beer to go along with it, although Mary did not like beer--she preferred wine. Mary, daughters Laurie and Jennifer were so fortunate in having a husband and father like Jim. In his Obituary photo, he looks the same as he did when he was much younger. Rest in eternal peace and happiness, Jim. Gone but never forgotten. With love, Bill and Mary Mys

We will always treasure Jim as a dear church friend, helping to guide our girls’ faith and strong Christian values. He was also a dear mentor to Tyler and me in out faith journey helping us through typical challenges of parenthood. Jim, you will be missed, but thankful to know you made it to your perfect peace in Heaven with Jesus. Sending love and support to Mary and their whole family. Love, Becky and Tyler Higginson
