Randy Hess, 69, died from complications due to an icy fall and was graciously taken home to heaven by His Savior, Jesus Christ.  

Randy was born on July 30, 1952, in Oshkosh, WI to Roland and Elsie Hess. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church and was a lifelong active member. Randy graduated from Winnebago Lutheran Academy in 1970. On September 22, 1973, he married Ruth (Bartelt) Hess. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Brian (Shari) Hess and Brenda Toll.

For many years Randy worked as a delivery driver and then sales representative for Pepsi-Cola. He was very involved in his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. He coached his daughter’s OYSC soccer team for many years and volunteered for the Pathways to Victory Basketball camp at Grace Lutheran. There was never a louder, yet more encouraging, cheerleader at his children’s and grandchildren’s games. He was president of the Winnebago Lutheran Dartball League for 35+ years. He served on many church and school committees and was a deacon at Grace.

Randy is survived by his wife, Ruth; children and grandchildren, Brian (Shari), Hailey, Jacob, and Eli Hess, Germantown; and Brenda, Micaela, Micah, and Marisa Toll, Oshkosh. He is also survived by his sister, Robin Hess, Oshkosh; as well as Ruth’s siblings, EstherMarie Leonard, James Bartelt, Lois (Gary) Werner, and John (Pam) Bartelt; and many nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; and Ruth’s parents, Henry and Esther Bartelt; as well as brother-in-law, Raymond Leonard; and sister-in-law, Nancy Bartelt.

A visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, March 10, 2022, from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church 913 Nebraska St. Oshkosh. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Chadwick Graham officiating. Mueller Funeral Home-Winneconne is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church and School Building Fund.
