Harry Kallas, age 87, of Poygan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 2, 2016. He was born November 5, 1928, in Omro to the late Frank and Maggie (Maslowski) Kallas. On April 11, 1958, Harry married Shirley Mulvey and they loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with their boys.
He was an avid Bear and Cubs fan and anytime the Bears played the Packers he would put out his "Packers Suck" sign in the front yard. Family and friends alike never failed to joke around with him about it. Over the past few weeks, Harry has been telling family and friends the Cubbies are going to take it all this year and oh boy Harry you were right.
Harry is survived by his five boys, Jeff (Bonnie), Rick (Tammy), Paul (Lisa), Mike, and Greg (Leslie Malnory) Kallas; six grandchildren, Robin (Jason) O'Connell, Kayla (Tyler Serchen), Krystal, Kyle, Ryan, and Riley Kallas; Lexie and David Malnory; four great-grandchildren, Morghan and Peyton O'Connell, Bentley Clark, and Addison Serchen; a sister, Florence King; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Along with his parents, Harry was also preceded in death by his wife Shirley on October 24, 1993; two sisters, Dorothy Coats, Genevieve Hass; and three brothers, Paul, Stanley, and Leonard Kallas.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, November 6, 2016, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Sr. Pam Biehl officiating. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Poygan.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
Harry's family wishes to thank the staffs of Mercy Medical Center, Omro Care Center, Affinity Visiting Nurses, Lakeland Care District, Poygan-Winneconne Fire District and First Responders, and Winneconne Police Department for all of the care and support shown to him.
