Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Carl B. Metzig
Carl Benjamin Metzig, age 91, formerly of Zittau, passed away at Greentree Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clintonville on Wednesday, January 13, 2010. He was born on October 9, 1918, in Zittau to the late Paul and Elizabeth (Riedel) Metzig. Carl grew up on the family farm and later owned and operated the Zittau Saw Mill until he retired. Carl is survived by a niece, Caroline Hertzberg, of Omro; a brother-in-law, George Reber, of Kimberly; numerous cousins and friends; and honorary grandfather to Brian Hein, of LaCrosse; and Brenda Hein, of Madison.
Along with his parents, Carl was also preceded in death by two sisters, Luella Schoenian, and Ruth Reber; and friend, Ethel Beyer.
A Funeral Service for Carl will be held on Monday, January 18, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 9077 North Rd., Zittau, with Pastor Mark Kinney officiating. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
