Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Marvel Rose (Wenzel) Mason, 87, of Winneconne, WI, passed away on November 24, 2016.
Marvel was born in Waubeka, WI on November 9, 1929, to Herbert and Melinda Wenzel. She is survived by her daughters, Leslie, of Winneconne; Ellen (Howard) Schneider, of Winneconne; and Kathryn (Charles) Western, of Mequon; four grandchildren, Jeanne (Boris) Strepacki, Michael (Tara) Schneider, Nicholas (Christina) Mason, and Daniel (Heidi) Mason; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Allen (Winifred) Wenzel and Wallace (Nola) Wenzel; her sister-in-law, Shirley Draves; and a large extended family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Joseph Nowacki, Edna and Oden Jacobson, and Robert Draves.
Marvel attended North Division High School and after graduation she worked at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company. She and Robert were married on February 24, 1951, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of Milwaukee. Marvel was a wonderful homemaker.
Marvel and Robert both enjoyed playing tennis, both singles and doubles, for most of their married life; they played in many clubs and leagues in the Milwaukee area. Marvel did volunteer work for her church and her children's school serving in the school library, on the Alter Guild and as a Rangerette leader and later the Rangerette National Council. She was a talented seamstress, making many of the clothes for her family. She also made many beautiful quilts and quilted wall hangings. For many years flower arranging was her joy.
Marvel and Robert lived in Milwaukee and later Glendale until they built their home on Lake Winneconne in 1997.
Although Alzheimer's disease took her memory later in life, she still maintained her loving and friendly personality. Always willing to try and make people comfortable in her home and considering everyone a friend, even if she could not remember them. Marvel has lived at Park View Health Center in Oshkosh since July of 2015 where singing was her favorite activity. Marvel's family would like to thank the staff at Park View for their loving care and for providing a joyful environment.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, December 1, 2016, from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2450 W. 9th Avenue, Oshkosh, WI. 54904. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with a lunch to follow. Reverend Greg Koepsell will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated for Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Oh, how much we would like to be there on Dec.1, but once again health gets in the way. So we extend our very deepest sympathy and will be thinking of all of you. We ARE doing a lot of memories of the "good old days", especially of those Glendale days - and they were Great Days!
