Richard Lee Johnson, age 86, of Winneconne passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017, at the Omro Care Center with his family by his side. He was born June 2, 1930, in Waupaca to the late Edwin and Lauretta (Strube) Johnson. Dick attended Winneconne schools. On October 3, 1953, he married Helen Davis and they made their home in Winneconne. For a few years Dick had worked at The Stamping Company in Winneconne before going to work in 1956 for Leach Manufacturing in Oshkosh where he worked until his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed ice fishing, sturgeon spearing, hunting, and watching Packer games. Dick was a long time member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Winneconne.
Dick is survived by four children and their families, Susan Zehner and her children, Lisa (Jake) Brucks, Adam (Amanda) Zehner, and Ben Zehner (friend, Emily); Carole (Randy) Carow and their son, Ryan Carow; Dennis (Darcy) Johnson; Robert (June) Johnson and children, Robbi Johnson (Chris), Jackie, Jody, and Joe; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way; a brother, Ron Johnson; a sister, Mary Jane Spangler; and other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, Richard was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen on June 18, 1988; a brother, Duane Johnson; a sister, Darlene Dachelet; and a special friend, Jeannie Sippel.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, January 12, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church 8 S. Fourth St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Mark Albrecht officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Winneconne.
Dick's family wishes to thank the staff of Omro Care Center, Dr. Rocke, and the doctors and nurses at Mercy Medical Center for all of the care given to him, and to Pastor Albrecht for his visits; and a special thank you to Robbi for helping take care of Grandpa.

We first met Dick through Jean Sipple. Many nights out for supper and evenings at Dicks visiting. One fond memory was when He brought out some tasty smoked sturgeon for us to sample. He was very much a gentleman. He will be missed. So sorry for your loss.
