Frances Elizabeth (Holt) Matz-Dahl died peacefully February 9, 2017, in Winneconne, Wisconsin.
Born January 11, 1927, in Janesville, Wisconsin, to Donald Bennett and Mary Gowell Holt she grew up on a farm near Columbus, Wisconsin. She enjoyed farm life and loved caring for the animals, especially the sheep.
Frances graduated from Columbus High School in 1944 and pursued a career as a licensed practical nurse. She married Alvin Carl Matz in 1947 and they made their home in Southeastern Wisconsin. Frances was active in her church choir, enjoyed sewing, and offered quiet care to many folks along the way. She loved and cared for her five children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren.
For the past 3 1/2 years Frances made her home at Care Partners in WInneconne where she was a beloved member of the community and received excellent care.
In addition to her parents, her husband, and her three siblings, Frances was preceded in death by a son, Dwight Allen Matz; a daughter-in-law, Ethel James Matz; and a granddaughter, Lynn Ann Matz.
She is survived by her children: Douglas Matz, Denise Matz Childers (Clayton), Daniel Matz (Carol), Diane Raspel (Alan); daughter-in-law, Cathy Henning Matz; her grandchildren, Christopher Matz, Brad Matz, Serena Graulich, Cortney Matz, Benjamin Matz, Allison Childers Scott, Carly Elizabeth Moenich, Megan Raspel, Sergei Raspel, Paul Raspel; and her great-grandchildren, Cameron Matz, Naomi Matz, Grace Graulich, Margarete Graulich, Mason Scott, and Parker Scott.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, February 11, 2017, from Noon until 2:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main Street Winneconne. A service of Death and Resurrection will take place on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Okeeg Cemetery, town of Danville.
Memorial gifts may be made to Heartland Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.

We remember Frances' sweet smile & fine disposition from when we were visiting our dad some years back. She deserved the prize at Care Partners for being well mannered, agreeable & pleasant! We appreciate knowing her & send our prayers for peace & comfort to her family.
