Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Dona (Furman/Schreiber) Berens passed away March 6, 2017, at Park View Health Center. She was born on May 24, 1935, the first child of Tisdale and Hazel (Vosburg) Furman. Dona graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1953. She married Kenneth Schreiber on October 16, 1954, and they had three children. After Kenny passed away she met and then married Howard Berens on September 15, 1984. Dona was employed by Miles Kimball and then Winnebago County at Park View Health Center for many years, retiring in 1990. Together she and Howie owned and operated Howie's Payne's Point Liquor Store and Payne's Point Bar. They especially loved their cabin in Tigerton and traveling even if it was only to the casino. Family was everything to Dona. Her strength, patience, and compassion often served them well. She recently compiled a family tree of sorts, listing everyone's birthdays/deaths.
Dona is survived by her children, Carol (Steve) Howard, Jon Schreiber (Lisa Vande Hey); stepdaughter, Sue (Pat) Wunderlich; grandchildren, Josh Schreiber (Jessica Stamper), Brooke (Ryan) Overton, Jason Schreiber, Jake Wunderlich; and great-grandchildren, Elijah Biggar, Dominic and Brianna, Dakota and Bristol Overton, and Dominic Schreiber. She is also survived by brothers and sisters, Ted (Colleen) Furman, Judy (Ronny) Buser, Jean Furman, Linda (Chuck) Pavlak, Bob (Carmen) Furman, Dick (Joanne) Furman, Randy (Cathy) Furman; many nieces, nephews, and her very good friend, Leanne Mc Hugh.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Alice Furman; an infant son, Lee Allen Schreiber; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lu (Hank) Reimer, Ruth (John) Maciejewski, Florence (Vernon) Petersen, and Betty (Al) Voelker.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne and will continue on Thursday March 16 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
