Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Robert James "Jiggs" Jenkel, age 73, of Winneconne, was called to his eternal home on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. He was born October 12, 1943, in Appleton to the late John and Clara Jenkel. Bob was a 1962 graduate of Fox Valley Lutheran High School in Appleton, and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. On August 20, 1977, he married his best friend Jeanne Welch. Bob was employed at MCC (Murphy Concrete & Construction) for over 25 years. "Jiggs" was highly dedicated to his work. After a brief retirement he demonstrated his passion by returning to MCC a year later.
Bob had a big heart, always willing to help out a neighbor in need. He was friendly and kind and always greeted people with a smile saying, "How are you this fine, fine day?" Bob was passionate about cars, owning numerous Corvettes through the years, attending car shows, and watching NASCAR. During the warmer months, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends on the water while boating and fishing, and in the winter snowmobiling. Bob raced boats professionally in the 70s and '80s. Bob was a member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Winneconne. He was a faithful servant, serving as an usher and knew and loved his Savior.
Bob will be sadly missed by his wife Jeanne, married almost 40 years, and his children, Ben (Sherry) Jenkel, of Sun Prairie; and John (Hannah) Jenkel, of Menasha; and his two grandchildren, Harper and Olin Jenkel. All of whom he was extremely loving and proud. He is further survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marion and Stanley Voight, Helen Thern, Dot and Dwain Johnson, Wayne Welch, Bridget and Dennis Welch; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Along with his parents, Bob was also preceded in death by a son, Rob Jenkel; his brother, John Jenkel Jr.; a sister-in-law, Ilene Myers; and a brother-in-law, John Thern.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, June 4, 2017, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church 8 S. Fourth St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Ben Berger officiating. Cremation will follow and inurnment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton at a later date.

You were the brother I never had. The memories of Sunday's at the lake. You water skiing on a circular piece of wood with a ladder on top. You always enjoyed the thrill of things . Jealous of all the great cars you owned over the years The stories could go on but, most of all I will miss the love for your family, your positive attitude on life and the bear hugs that transmitted your love. You were a very special person.
