Michael J. "Hammer" Hammes, age 56, of Neenah, died Saturday, June 17, 2017, as the result of a motorcycle accident. He was born December 13, 1960, in Neenah to the late John and Lucille (Heindl) Hammes. On August 3, 1996, Mike married Sharon Strohecker. For almost 39 years he worked at the Neenah Foundry. Mike's passions were his family and motorcycling, and he loved Scooby-Doo. He was always willing to help anyone and everyone he met he made friends with.
Mike is survived by his wife, Sharon Hammes; children, Jennifer Kallas (Eric), Jillanne (Michael) Borst, Josh Hammes, Melissa Hammes, Jeremy Hammes (Amanda), Kyle (Melissa) Hammes; grandchildren, Brandon, Teresa, Brianna, Austin, Makayla, Robbie, McKenzie, Hunter, and Chelsey; great-grandchildren, Chloe and Hailey; two sisters, Patty (Greg) Muthig, Sandy (Ken) Rozek; a brother, Ronald (Kathy) Hammes;; five nephews, two nieces, other relatives, and friends.
Along with his parents, Mike was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Clara Heindl; a son, Jason Kallas; a sister, Mary Forbes; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Beatrice and Donald Strohecker, Sr.; and a niece, Lisa McMillan.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, June 23, 2017, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. Visitation will continue on Saturday, June 24 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
