David Lawrence Jordan, 88, of Winneconne, WI died Wednesday July 12, 2017, at Park View Health Center in Oshkosh.
David was born on January 27, 1929, in Byron, MN to Lawrence "Shorty" and DeVera (Stevenson) Jordan. On April 18, 1953, he married Patricia Alice Whitty.
David attended St. Lawrence Seminary in Milwaukee, WI. He enlisted with the Army in 1948. His years of service included tours of Okinawa and Guam, and he completed his service as Sergeant First Class, E-7 rank.
After the Army, David worked at Wagner Iron Works in Milwaukee where he met and married Pat. A group of employees from Wagner Iron Works started Colt Manufacturing and moved their company to Winneconne, which later was purchased by J I Case Company and became Ingersoll Equipment.
David moved with Colt to Winneconne in 1963, where he and Pat raised their family. He was a member of St. Mary's Parish, Winneconne, for 54 years, where he served as an usher and was a past member of the Parish Council. He was an Honorary Life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8810 Omro/Winneconne and the American Legion Giles-Luce Post 364.
David's hobbies included small time farming, fishing, hunting, gardening, traveling, reading, and playing countless games of cards. One of their favorite past times was socializing with friends at the Fin n' Feather.
David is survived by his wife, Pat, of 64 years and their eight children, Jim (Marsha) Jordan, Onalaska; Steve (Kim) Jordan, New London; Carol (Bill) Jordan, Niagara; Mike (Dianna) Jordan, Poygan; Debby (Dennis) Bahrke, Winneconne; Jacki Jordan, Bloomer; Susan (Todd) Ewald, Berlin; Ruthanne (Dan) Schroeder, Fremont. He is further survived by twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul (Audrey) Jordan, Kasson, MN; one sister, Mary Lou (Ed) Rauen, Rochester, MN; four sisters-in-law, Sandy (Jack) Jordan, Stewartville, MN; Lynda (Jerry) Jordan, Woodstock, IL; Joan (Bob) Kolodzinski, Sheboygan; Joyce (Red) Haysmer, Grand Rapids, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence "Shorty" and DeVera Jordan; three brothers, Dick Jordan, Jack Jordan, Jerry Jordan; and one sister, Jean (Sonny) Golberg.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Park View Health Center and Affinity Hospice for their compassion and wonderful care. We would also like to thank Fr. Bill Hower for his visits.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, July 16, 2017, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne., where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, July 17 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church 210 Pleasant Dr. Winneconne. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Fr. Bill Hower and Sr. Pam Biehl officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, town of Poygan.
