Frederick "Fritz" James Loker, age 77, of Winneconne, died peacefully Friday, September 29, 2017, at Bethel Homes of Oshkosh.
He was born March 1, 1940, in Oshkosh to Norman and Mildred (LaBelle) Loker. On December 11, 1960, Fritz married the love of his life Bernadine "Bernie" Schlaak; he loved her so much he married her again on August 1, 1969.
He loved and cherished his 56 years as a volunteer fire fighter for the Winneconne/Poygan Fire Department, the bonds and friendships he formed there lasted a lifetime. Fritz was a faithful and active member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church of Winneconne. He was employed by Ingersoll for many years and retired from Basler.
Upon his retirement, Fritz enjoyed driving school bus for Falk Busses, playing cards on Wednesday night (losing good money to Leo), driving Bernie to many rummage sale adventures, playing cards with Jerry and Carol, yearly trips to Florida with Wayne and Patti, and spending time with his two beloved grandsons, Will and Matthew.
He had a deep love for God to the end, wanting to sleep with his glasses on so he could see what Heaven looked like.
Fritz is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Bernie; sons, Jeffrey (Susie Martini), of Oshkosh; and Gregory, of Winneconne; grandsons, William and Matthew, who will always cherish memories of their "Papa"; sister, JoAnn Falk, brother, Robert Scharf, both of Winneconne; brother, Jerry (Kathy) Loker, of Florida; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Mildred; stepfather, Elmer Scharf; brother, Arden; sister-in-law, Judy Loker; brother-in-law, Ed Falk; and sister-in-law, Sharon Loker.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, October 5, 2017, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church 8 S. Fourth St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Mark Albrecht officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, monetary contributions can be made to the Winneconne/Poygan Fire Department.

Our condolences go out to the Loker family. We have many good memories of Fritz stopping up to Leo's in the 70-80's to visit with the gang. Freddy and my mother worked very closely for many years at Colt/Case/Ingersol.
