Linda M. (Carpenter) Holt passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017, with her family by her side after a short hospital stay. Linda was born in Oshkosh on April 26, 1948, to Roy and Edith (Lee) Carpenter. Linda graduated from Liberty School in the town of Rushford at the top of her eighth grade class (she was the only one in her grade); she then attended Omro High School, graduating in 1966. From there Linda studied at the Appleton School of Cosmetology and graduated in 1967. Linda worked as a hairdresser for many years starting out at Jerri's and then spent most of her career at the Red Feather in Berlin.
On October 24, 1970, she married Charles "Chuck" Holt at the Borth United Methodist Church, the same church where she was baptized and was a member of for many, many years. After marrying Chuck, she became a secretary for their construction company. At that time they lived in Watertown, Wisconsin where their first daughter, Lori, was born. Linda and Chuck later moved to Winneconne and welcomed their second daughter, Lisa. From there they moved to Berlin. Linda's gift for hospitality lead her and Chuck to own and operate the Encore Supper Club in Green Lake. After Chuck retired from the construction business, Linda worked in various offices including Wash on Wheels and Dahl Industries. Linda and Chuck moved from Berlin to Oshkosh in 2004. Linda worked at Oshkosh B'Gosh / Carter's until illness caused her to retire in 2014.
In her free time Linda could be found in the kitchen making goodies to be shared with family and friends. Some of Linda's favorite moments were spent with her grandchildren, teaching them to bake. She also was very crafty and loved to sew. Linda and Chuck enjoyed long rides through the countryside exploring new places.
Linda will be sadly missed by daughters, Lori (Alessandro Rinaldo) Holt; Lisa (David) Scott; stepson, James (Marla) Holt; grandchildren, Sofia and Matteo Rinaldo, Derek and Tyler Scott; step-grandchildren, Tiffany and Christopher Holt; siblings, Bill (DeeDee) Carpenter, Mary (Jim) Thompson, Carol (Don) Parshall; Ken (Kim) Carpenter; sister-in-law, Charlotte Holt; brother-in-law, Jerry Blanchette; many loving nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many very dear friends.
Preceding Linda in death were her husband and best friend, Charles Holt; her parents, Roy and Edith Carpenter; sister-in-law, Janice Blanchette; brothers-in-law, Robert Holt and Kenneth Zeitlow; great- nephew, Mitchell Carpenter; and great-niece, Hannah Carley.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, November 4, 2017, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Nancy Green officiating. Inurnment will be in the Borth Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Mercy Medical Center for their loving care of Linda throughout these last few years. Also, thank you to the staff at Fresenius Dialysis Center and the staff at Westbrooke Manor.

Linda,Sally & I were all born within months of each other, & had wonderful times together. I know one of our most treasured moments together was being @ Granny Carpenter's for Sunday dinner & walking downtown in the aft. & striking it RICH in a payphone booth! Most recently Linda & I spent a wonderful fall day together traveling to the Borth church & areas therein. We will all miss you, dear cousin. PEACE

I will so miss my dear cousin, Linda. We are of similar age, so I have many memories of playing together at family gatherings on the farm. She was such a kind-hearted individual with a great sense of humor; I will always remember her laugh. After we were both retired, we went together to the Sewing & Quilt Expo at the Oshkosh Tech College, and Linda was the raffle grand prize winner of a new sewing machine. She was elated and spent many happy hours sewing quilts for grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by those who loved her.

Our Deepest Sympathy to Linda's family. We grew up together and went to Liberty School together and yes I was the only one in my class also. Linda was extremely talented in her baking and crafting and recently wanted to get started making greeting cards as she had gotten ahold of me with my cards. I know she would have made amazing ones. Our thoughts are with you.
