Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Robert R. Radtke, age 92, of Winneconne, died Saturday, June 25, 2022. He was born March 29, 1930, to the late Elmer and Emma (DeRoche) Radtke. Bob was a 1949 graduate of Winneconne High School, and on February 3, 1951, he married his high school sweetheart, Muriel Bockin.
At age 16 Bob began working for Courtney & Plummer, and remained great friends with the Plummer families his whole life. In 1965 Bob and Muriel established the company named Bob Radtke, starting the business with one drag line with a light so he could work well into the night. Bob could make friends with anybody and he traveled all over the country buying equipment for the business, always meeting new people. In 1996 Bob and Muriel sold the business to their son Tom, at which time the name became Radtke Contractors Inc., but they were always around to lend a hand. Bob was in his ‘80s and would plow snow at night in the business parking lot so the employees could get to work. After retirement Bob and Muriel built a vacation home in Florida and traveled by motorhome with their dogs.
Bob is survived by three children, Pam (Chris) Quakenbush, Rick (Terri) Radtke, Tom Radtke (Donna); five grandchildren, Kelly Quakenbush, Kimberly Radtke, Katie Casey, Emily Radtke, Michael Radtke; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, Bob was also preceded in death by his wife, Muriel, on October 2, 2020; and a brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Sue Radtke.
A private family service and interment was held at Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Winchester. Mueller Funeral Home-Winneconne is assisting the family.
Bob’s family wishes to thank the Winneconne/Poygan First Responders, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department, and the staff of HomeInstead for their care and assistance.
