Dorothy “Mutz” A. Asmus, age 91, of Winneconne, died peacefully Sunday, August 28, 2022, with family by her side. She was born September 29, 1930, in New London to the late Irvin and Ella (Bentle) Julius, and was raised on the family farm in Greenville. Dorothy was a 1947 graduate of Appleton High School. On May 20, 1950, she married Arlen “Arlie” Asmus in Greenville. In 1967 Arlie and Mutz founded and successfully operated Fox Valley Stone & Brick Co. Inc. in Neenah until 1991 when they sold the business. In 1999 the family moved to Diamondhead, Mississippi. Arlen preceded Mutz in death on March 26, 2006. In 2008 Mutz and Cheryl moved back to Winneconne where she subsequently enjoyed her remaining years at home with Sherry, Tom, and “Bunky” along with frequent visits to Oneida Casino. Dorothy was a member of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Winneconne.
Mutz is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Asmus, of Winneconne; special friend, Tom McClone, of Winneconne; nieces, Linda (Richard) Kester, of Arizona; Diane Julius, of Greenville; and other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents and her husband, Mutz was also preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Virginia Julius; and a nephew, David Julius.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church 8 S. 4th St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Mark Albrecht officiating. Lunch at the church will follow. After lunch, the interment will take place at the Winneconne Cemetery. Mueller Funeral Home-Winneconne is assisting the family.
