William R. Butzlaff, age 95 of Oshkosh, formerly of Winneconne, died Monday, November 13, 2017, at Arborview Manor in Oshkosh. He was born on June 6, 1922, in Oshkosh to the late William and Bessie (Bartels) Butzlaff. During World War II Bill served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force. On June 6, 1947, he married Betty Schroeder in Oshkosh where they made their home. For many years Bill worked at Morgan Co. in Oshkosh until his retirement. In 1983 Bill and Betty moved to the town of Poygan. She preceded him in death on December 26, 2005, and for the past number of years Bill has been living in Oshkosh.
He was a past member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Winneconne, and was involved in its dartball league. Bill was a current member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, Oshkosh. Bill and Betty enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, and spending winters in Arizona.
Bill is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Thomas Wightman, of Madison; Kathy and Wendell Koplitz, of Minocqua; grandchildren, Brian and Heidi Wightman, of Waukesha; Heather and Justin Langdon, of Sheboygan; Erin Koplitz, of De Pere; five great-grandchildren, William, Selah, and Amber Wightman, Thomas and Nevaeh Langdon; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Dolores and Russell Swenson, Juanita Becker; and other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents and wife, Bill was also preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, November 17, 2017, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church 913 Nebraska St. Oshkosh. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Jeff Duquaine officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.

We are so sorry to hear of Bill's passing when my Dad returned to Arborview after a few weeks of therapy. Don was Bill's neighbor at Arborview. I always said "hi" to him and waved to him going by his room. Thoughts and prayers. From Tracy- daughter of Don Payne
