Ted Thomas Gumz, age 79 of Omro, WI, passed away peacefully, Sunday, October 30, 2022.
Ted was the 2nd born son in a large family of 6 children to Harold and Lorraine Gumz. He went to Lourdes through grade 12 and was with the first graduating class from Lourdes in 1962. Ted then joined the service and spent 4 years in the Navy (1962-1966). He returned home and met and married Jane (Beisner) Koch on June 1, 1968. Ted worked at the Oshkosh Foundry and spent another 34 years working and retired from Oshkosh Truck in 2004. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading books and the cabin up north in Silver Cliff. He shot trap for Ajax Ham and Bun and also was a lifetime member of the VFW and member of St Mary Catholic Church in Omro. He especially liked to spend time with his grandkids.
Ted is survived by his loving family: two sons, Todd (Jen) Koch, Omro; Tom (Nancy) Gumz, Wautoma; two daughters, Joy (Pat) Sullivan, Wild Rose; Jill Gumz-Hartzke, Berlin; brothers, Harold (Julie) Gumz, Gerry (Marie) Gumz, Carl (Ann) Gumz; sister, Laurie (Gibby) Reichenberger; 14 grandkids, 4 great-grandkids, and other relatives and friends.
Preceding Ted in death were his wife, Jane; parents, Harold and Lorraine Gumz; and brother, John Gumz.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, November 3, 2022, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St Mary Catholic Church 730 Madison Ave. Omro. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Following the Mass burial with military honors will take place at Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
