We are sad to announce the passing of Edward “Ed” R. Kromm, 64, of Omro, WI, on January 4, 2023. ‍Ed was born to Beverly and the late Daniel Kromm, on July 9, 1958. He lived his entire life in Omro and enjoyed being a part of the community.

Ed was proud of growing up helping on the family farm. After graduating from Omro High School in 1976 Ed entered the workforce. Over the years he spent time working for Garvens Bus, Precast Concrete, CR Meyer & Sons, Kampo, Warehouse Specialists, Packaging Inc, and Multi-Conveyor.

Ed loved spending time on the family farm, deer hunting, and reading books about history. He spent 40 years coaching softball with various organizations including Omro Athletic Association, Omro High School and Middle School summer league.

Ed held many titles in his life, from husband and dad to friend and coach, but by far his favorite role was being “Buppa” to his grandchildren Jack, Devin, Johnny, and Evelyn. He loved spending time and sharing stories with them. Ed took great pride in his family and was without a doubt everyone’s biggest cheerleader.

Whether or not you knew Ed, if you happened to cross paths, most likely at the Pig or Kwik Trip, he had a story or joke to share. He could also be found telling stories and playing the Bear when picking up his grandkids from daycare or school. With his larger-than-life personality and hearty laugh, he had the ability to make connections with everyone he encountered. While Ed left us far too soon, the impact his life had on others will be felt for years to come.

Ed is survived by his wife of 40 years, Julie; their four children, Steph Kromm, Kari Ann (Brad) Bathke, Nick Kromm, and Laura (Avery) Fields; and his four grandchildren, Jack and Johnny Hawkins, and Devin and Evelyn Fields; as well as his dog, Chance. He also survived by his mother, Beverly Kromm; siblings, Daniel (Lynn) Kromm, Kathy (Randy) Crawford; sister-in-law, Donna (Todd) Allen; brother-in-law, James Olson; many nieces and nephews, many cousins, and many lifelong friends.

Ed was preceded in death by his father, Daniel; sister, Ramona; and in-laws, Ruebin and Lois Olson.

A visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, January 9, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church 720 Jackson Ave. Omro. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, January 10 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Mark Wenzel officiating. Burial will follow in the Omro Cemetery.

Mueller Funeral Home-Winneconne is assisting the family. If you wish please submit online condolences to muellerfh.net.

Sorry we missed the funeral. Heard too late. Thinking about Eddie and the rest of the family brought about many good memories of visiting the family on the farm. Sorry for your loss. Our best to all of you.

Ed was a great guy. Growing up next door to Nick, Ed and the rest of the family I got to see how much he loved his kids and enjoyed raising his family. My condolences and sympathies to your family. Ed will be missed.

My sympathy to you and your family. I enjoyed talking with Ed, most recently at H.B. Patch as we waited for our grandkids. Ed was a classmate in middle and high school. A fun memory. . . . Many years ago Ed gave me quite the scare as he chased me with a chainsaw at a Halloween haunted walk in the park. We laughed about that for years after.

I offer my deepest sympathies. I always enjoyed chats with Ed when I played women’s softball for Tiny’s in Omro. He was always willing to answer questions and always had a good story to tell. He also knew how to add humor to those stories. He will be missed. ~Robin Vaughan
