Jo Ann Walker of Germantown, WI passed away on January 8, 2023.
She was born on March 3, 1951, to Doris and Lewis “Red” Strehlow in the City of Oshkosh.
Jo Ann and her best friend Sherry Davidson were instrumental in creating the waterski club “Fox Skimmers” in the late 1960’s.
She graduated from UW-Whitewater with a teaching degree in Business Education. She taught students in the Milwaukee School District from 1973-1974. She then taught in the Wauwatosa School District from 1974 until her retirement in 2008.
Jo Ann was the secretary for the Educational Teachers Union and she also volunteered for 20 years at the Channel 10 auctions.
She loved to play golf and played for 20 years with the same three people, Susanna Gottschalk, JoAnne Peterson and Mary Kokalj. Jo Ann also loved to bake. She made many batches of cookies for friends and family. Additionally, Jo Ann was an animal lover and enjoyed feeding the orioles and cardinals.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brothers, Greg, Mark (Cindy), and Kent (Kelly); along with other relatives and many friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A graveside service and burial will be held on Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Omro Cemetery. Following the burial there will be a celebration of her life at Tanner’s Tap in Omro from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Jo Ann’s family would like to thank Debbie Wilhelm for all of her help and assistance with her care and also thank you to all of the nurses and doctors at Froedtert Community Hospital for the outstanding care that Jo Ann received.

Jo Ann was my best friend and I will dearly miss her. My husband and I enjoyed many weekends with her antiquing, selling at flea markets, going to dinner or just visiting. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and helped us for many years with antique sales in our barn and special events at our business. She loved to bake cookies and we looked forward to her tray of home baked goodies every Christmas. My husband will especially miss the hickory nut cookies and I will miss her peanut butter fudge. But most of all, we will miss her friendship. She was the kind of friend you could always count on, no matter what. Life will not be the same without you, my friend. R.I.P.

Hello to the Walker Family,
I worked with JoAnn for a number of years at Whitman MS in Wauwatosa. She was always very pleasant and would help out in whatever way she could. Sometimes her best gift was her calm voice and just supporting you.
I will miss her at the retiree's breakfast. We met today and the group surely misses her.
My condolences to you and your family.
JoAnn was truly a wonderful person to know and work with.
I know she is in a beautiful place resting and looking down upon us.

Jo Ann was a dear, sweet friend for so many treasured years; years filled with some tears and much laughter. She loved my dogs and in return I loved her cats and hor\ses (especially Casey). We had great fun together going on antique hunts almost every weekend while I still lived in Menomonee Falls. She was one of the most giving, caring individuals I have ever had the pleasure to personally know. After we moved to Arizona in 2014, we still stayed in contact via e-emails until November 2022. Jo Ann will definitely be missed by many people.
