Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Michael passed away peacefully at his home on January 25, 2023, at the age of 68. He was born to Catherine and Clement Schlimm on November 18, 1954, and grew up on the family farm with his 6 brothers and sisters. After graduating from Hortonville High School in 1973 Mike attended Fox Valley Technical College and became a welder at Pierce Manufacturing in Appleton, WI. In 1975, Mike returned to his farming roots and bought his own farm.
Mike was an active member of his community, serving on the Town of Winchester board and later becoming Town Supervisor. He was known for his commitment to Winchester remaining an agricultural, green space. In addition to his work within his community, Mike served on various boards for local farm cooperatives and most recently volunteered at St. Joe’s Food Pantry.
Mike enjoyed camping and spending time with family. His absolute favorite thing to do was to work side-by-side with his children on the family farm. Mike’s children were the most important thing to him and he always put their needs first. He will be remembered for his kind heart, jovial nature, big smile, and his pride in his farm.
He is survived by his children: Theresa (Zach) Dewitt, Mike (Jessica) Schlimm, Jr., Nathan (Megan) Schlimm, his grandchildren: Evan, Gabriel, Delizzah, and Catherine Dewitt, and William and Bennett Schlimm: his siblings: Barb (Ed) Griesbach, Richard Schlimm, Kay (Dave) Howman, David (Mary) Schlimm, John (Deb) Schlimm and Susan Schlimm Jansen.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents Catherine and Clement Schlimm.
A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne, WI. Visitation will continue on Thursday, February 2 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church 8 St. 4th St. Winneconne. A celebration of life service will take place on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Ben Berger officiating. A luncheon following the service will be provided at the church. A private family burial service will follow at St. Joe’s Cemetery in Appleton, WI where his remains will be laid to rest.
The family wants to thank all those who have cared so lovingly for their father including all the nurses and doctors at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic in Oshkosh as well as the Aurora Hospice at Home nurses.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks any monetary donations to be given to the Larsen-Winchester Lion’s Club, P.O. Box 92 Larsen, WI 54947, as they have been super helpful to our Dad over the years.

Thinking of your sweet Dad. Missing him, knowing you miss him far more. Thankful he is in no pain and the health struggle is over. Thankful he is with our Lord God! Praying for you, Theresa, Nathan & Mike, your spouses, Mike's grandchildren and his siblings. Grateful to have known him, enjoyed lots of phone talks, texts, chats, dancing, shared dinners, sweet kisses, etc... He was a great hugger and we always shared a lot of laughs! He is missed! Continued prayers for you all as you navigate this world without him. Think about the fun times! Continue to talk about him. Share pictures with your families. Remember the laughs.

Theresa, Mike, Nathan, we are so sorry for your loss. Your dad was such a great guy and we feel fortunate to have known him.
He was a hard worker but always managed to smile and he had such a great sense of humor. I am sorry we couldn't talk to you in person but we are currently traveling back and forth to St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee because Louis is there waiting for heart surgery. We love you all and wish you all the best. God Bless!

Theresa and family, I am so very sorry for you all at the passing of your dad. He was so very proud of his family and for good reason - you all turned out to be caring and talented individuals. I feel bad for not keeping in touch with Mike. Had I known he was sick I would have reached out. Mike was a hard-worker, intelligent and caring man who also made great popcorn on the stovetop. My prayers go out to all of you. God bless you. I wish you peace and comfort.
