Steven Scott Doehling, lifelong resident of Winchester, passed away February 9, 2023. Many knew him as “Boss” “Doully” “Peeker”.

Steve was born February 7, 1961, to the late Theodore and Marian (Stilen) Doehling. He grew up with a love for animals, racing, hunting, fishing and being in nature. Steve was a 1979 graduate of Winneconne High School.

He worked in construction for over 30 years for Pheifer Bros, Radtke Contractors and Gene Fredrickson Trucking and Excavating. Steve built bridges, and was proud of being a crane operator and also a carpenter; building and remodeling homes and working most recently with his son-in-law, Ryan at Thurk Tiling LLC.

Steve was an avid fisherman and looked forward to the yearly trip to Lake Erie. Some of his best memories are with his fishing buddies. He enjoyed deer hunting and sturgeon spearing and he knew all of the “hot spots” on Lake Poygan. He was a Packer fan, and most recently, he was beginning to restore his 1970 Nova.

Steven loved his family dearly and was a friend to many. He loved spending time sharing stories and joking around. Left behind are: Steve’s significant other, Gail Schwerin; his children, Shannon (Ryan) Thurk, Megan (Ben) Case, Ben Doehling; his cherished grandsons, Hudson, Mack, and Calvin; siblings, Gary (Lori) Doehling, Tim (Diane) Doehling, Nancy (“Verc”) Vercellotti, Craig (Tracy) Doehling, Lori (Scott) Berholtz; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Along with his parents, Steve was also preceded in death by a grandson, Carter.

A visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, February 17, 2023, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Laatsch officiating. Cremation will follow.
