Gaylord Stevens Remmel went home to Jesus’ loving arms on February 25, 2023, at age 84. 

Gaylord was born to Raymond and Gertrude (Stevens) Remmel on December 3, 1938, in the Township of Rushford, Wisconsin. As a child, Gaylord grew up on a farm, with his parents, three brothers and a sister. He graduated from Winneconne High School in 1956.

Gaylord met his wife of 65 years, Ina Mae Haase, in youth fellowship. They were married in 1957 and went on to have four daughters: Karen, Gayla, Leann and Susan. They loved on many foster children (20), three AFS students, and a cousin in their home. They lived first in Appleton, WI and then moved to Neenah, WI where they spent the next 40 years, before moving to Antigo, WI. They wintered in Florida for many years. They recently lived in Oshkosh, WI. In addition to being a dedicated and loving husband and father, Gaylord loved reading, deer and pheasant hunting, trout fishing, golfing, miniature golfing, jigsaw puzzles, Florida flea markets, watching football and golf, travelling and spending time with family and friends.

Gaylord started working for the Kimberly-Clark Corporation in 1957. He started in the mill, moving quickly to the cost department. It was during this time when he earned a bachelor’s degree at UW-Oshkosh. Gaylord worked in the accounting department, was a customer service manager, worked in the computer area and then consumer products. He went on to become the director of secondary products. He retired from Kimberly-Clark after 39 years.

Throughout Gaylord’s entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him.

Gaylord joins his mother, father, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Hattie and  Albert Haase; three brothers, Robert, Donald, and Raymond; brothers-in-law, Merlin Haase and Melvin Albright; sisters-in-law, Audrey Remmel, Doris Remmel and Evelyn Haase in Heaven.

He is survived by: his wife, Ina Mae; daughters, Karen (John) Bruso, Gayla (Andrew) Lamers, Leann (Darryl) McElhannon, and Susan (Peter) Hickey; 14 grandchildren, Erin Lenius, Katie McNeil, Krista Schram, Alex and Trevor Bruso, Shawn Bordeaux, Ashley Maloney, Aury, Connor and Brooke McElhannon, Monica Hickey, Meghan Thomas, Colin and Madeline Hickey, and their spouses and significant others; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Marjorie (Jerry) Jankowski; and sisters-in-law, Donna Albright and Luella Remmel.

Gaylord’s favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 40:28-31. It struck him the first time he heard it. He liked the connotation of being under God’s wing all the time.

A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church 1025 Tullar Rd. Neenah. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 18 at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Tim Albrecht officiating. A private burial will be in the Borth Cemetery, Town of Poy Sippi.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Gaylord’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Evergreen Benevolent Fund.

Sorry for your loss I was unable to come and see all of you. Our first grandson Colton was born 2/23/23 which keeps me very busy these days sure wish Andy was with us to hug him and spoil him. I still remember when Andy Jr was born your folks were visiting Grandma & Grandpa Oleson we received a call from Grandma to come over so Gertrude could see him and make him smile. please say Hi to Margie I have just moved unpacking I found a baby picture of her with Andy and a Silverthorn and of course Andy.
