Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Doris L. Barnes, age 91 ½, of Butte des Morts, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Care Partners in Winneconne, where she resided for the last five years.
Doris was born September 7, 1931, in Berlin to the late Fredrick and Esther (Fredisdorf) Elendt. She was a graduate of Berlin High School. On January 29, 1951, Doris married Ronald J. Barnes.
The most important thing to Doris was her family. She will be dearly missed and is survived by her daughters, Diane (Larry) Maki, Karla Barnes, Teri (Ray) Lee, all of Winneconne; Wendy Langer, of Columbus, Ohio; her son, James Barnes, of Winneconne; grandchildren, Ty (Martina) Maki, Tori (Josh) Revoir, Alysha (Adam) Fuss, Tara (Brian) Pendergast, Brittany (Brandon) Kaiver, Jessica (Dominic) Beckman, Kyle Barnes and Cody Barnes; and 14 great-grandchildren. Doris is further survived by her niece, Karen; and brother-in-law, Tom (Anita) Werthman, of Marshfield.
Along with her parents, Doris was also preceded in death by her husband, Ron; her brother, Robert Elendt, and his daughter, Sharon Thompson.
Doris was fortunate enough to be a stay-at-home Mom before she started her career at Miles Kimball, where she worked for more than 25 years. When Doris retired, she went on to work for the Winneconne Community School District, in food service, and she loved seeing her grandchildren there every day.
Doris loved animals and volunteered for many organizations.
In her younger years she played sports whenever she had a chance, which led her to be the biggest fan of watching her children and grandchildren play their sports. She was always an avid Packer, Brewer and Badger fan.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, March 21, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, March 22 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Jessica Harrison officiating. In honor of Mom, as a family we invite you to wear your Wisconsin sports apparel. Cremation will follow and interment will be at a later date at Lake View Memorial Park-Oshkosh.
Doris’ family wishes to thank Care Partners of Winneconne staff for their care of and compassion shown to our Mom.

I worked with Doris for several years at Winneconne Schools. She was a great employee and a friend to everyone. A very pleasant person with a smile always on her face. When you would meet her out away from school she always seemed to remember you and your family. I will miss this wonderful lady but her memory will make a smile come to my face when I think of her. Sympathies go out to her family from us.

My sympathy to Doris' family. She is a wonderful lady who is very dear to me and my sister, who worked with her at Miles Kimball. She was always happy and so outgoing. She will be missed here on earth, but I know God is happy to have her with Him in heaven.
