Edward Henry Rehfeldt passed away at home with family by his side on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.

Ed was born in Larsen, WI on December 5, 1932, to Henry and Amanda (Salzman) Rehfeldt. He attended Winneconne schools in his youth but left before graduating to help on the family farm full time.

In 1951, he met Beverly Tritt at the Arrowhead in Winneconne, and they married on October 3, 1953. They had three children before Ed officially bought the family farm in May of 1960.

In addition to running the farm, Ed also worked at Miller Electric in Appleton for 25 years, retiring in 1991. Never one to just sit back and relax, Ed’s retirement for the next 32 years consisted of staying busy outside – cutting, bailing, and selling hay, keeping his lawn meticulously mowed, cutting wood, and riding snowmobiles and four-wheelers. One of his favorite pastimes was complaining about the weather – it was always too hot, too cold, too rainy, or too dry.

Though he wasn’t very keen on flying, Ed and Bev traveled to Hawaii for their 25th anniversary in 1978 and later made the long trip to Alaska in 2003 for their 50th anniversary.

Ed was happiest when he was driving tractor and always made sure to let his family know when they weren’t correctly stacking hay bales on the wagon or in the mow…

He and Bev enjoyed polka dancing, snowmobiling, listening to country music, attending church, and spending time with their family.

Ed was a devoted servant of the Lord and was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winneconne.

Ed is survived by his wife Bev of 69 years; his three children: Debbie (Jim) Groff, Susie (Dave) Petrack, and Jeff Rehfeldt (Andy Manser); his five grandchildren: Justin (Mindy) Petrack, Lindsay (Pete) Elias, Jackie (Cody) LeBlanc, Shannon (Kyle) Trewyn, and Robin (Mike) Mancoske; nine great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Naomi Rehfeldt, June Smith, and Janet Ticks; brothers-in-law, Berniel Tritt, and Del (Joyce) Tritt; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harvey (Thelma) Salzman and Henry Rehfeldt, Jr; sister, Marciel (Dan) Fenn; sisters-in-law, Arleta Tritt, Elaine (Lloyd) Collins, Carol (John) Hinz, and Lorraine Tritt; and brothers-in-law, Harry Smith, Sherden Tritt, and Gerald Tritt.

A visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, June 9, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. Visitation will continue on Saturday, June 10, 2023, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church 8 S. 4th St. Winneconne. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Mark Albrecht officiating. Burial will be in the St. Peter’s Cemetery #2, Town of Winchester.

Ed’s family would like to thank Compassus hospice services for helping care for Ed over the past several months.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winneconne, the Winchester Historical Society, or the Larsen-Winchester Lion’s Club.

If you wish please submit online condolences to muellerfh.net.

Eddie and Bev welcomed us to the neighborhood back in 2009 when we built across the road from their farm. Eddie has always been a strong inspiration to me. I seen him always working and keeping busy on the farm. We had many interesting conversations around the kitchen table about how things used to be, the weather, and new additions to their family. I mentioned many times that if I could be half as active as he is at his age I'd be thrilled. He will always be that inspiration to me.
