Janet Arlene Metzig, age 93, formerly of Larsen and Winchester, passed away Monday, June 12, 2023, at Valley VNA in Neenah, where she had recently moved. She was born January 4, 1930, in Neenah, to the late Walter and Lauretta (Merrill) Danke. Janet attended Trinity Lutheran School in Neenah, was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in 1944. Janet was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Neenah. She was a 1948 graduate of Neenah High School. On October 17, 1959, she married Richard Metzig at Trinity Lutheran Church in Neenah. Janet and Richard made their home and dairy farmed in the Town of Clayton until 1989 at which time they retired and moved to Winchester, and in 2019 Janet and Dick moved to Island Shores in Neenah. She was also a member of the Winchester Historical Society. Janet enjoyed bowling, gardening, jig saw puzzles, baking, traveling, and most of all Bible classes.

Janet is survived by one sister, Marlene Sauriol; brother-in-law, Victor Metzig; and nieces, nephews, and friends.

Along with her parents, Janet was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard, on February 26, 2019; and two sisters-in-law, Ruth Metzig and Eleanor Babcock.

A visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, June 19, 2023, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 407 Oak St., Neenah. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Tony McKenzie officiating. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Neenah.

Memorials in Janet’s name may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or School.
