Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Shirley Carpenter, 85, of Oshkosh, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at her home. She was born in Oshkosh on November 24, 1937, to Herman and Gail (Ives) Ristow. Shirley was a 1955 graduate of Oshkosh High School. She worked as a secretary at Ted Hoyer Company; she loved her job and her boss. On October 17, 1964, she married Russell Carpenter. Shirley left the working world the day her first son was born and became a stay-at-home mom who loved her kids and grandkids and enjoyed seeing them often. Sunday lunches were special and delicious with the table always filled end to end with good food; her apple slices and birthday angel food cake were especially loved.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 58 years, Russell Carpenter. She was a devoted mother to Scott (Renee), Brian, Catherine (Joe Urban), and Chris (Danna); and loving grandmother to Kiera and Courtney. Shirley is also survived by sisters, Karen Davies, Cheryl (Dave) Farnell, and Deborah (Mark) Foland; Jen Seibold, who was like a second daughter to her; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Judy; and a niece, Becky.
A private family service was held and burial was in Lake View Memorial Park in Oshkosh.
