Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Alois “Al” Teclaw, age 100, passed to eternal life on September 13, 2023. He was born on September 28, 1922, to Mike and Verna (Stroinski) Teclaw in Hermansville, MI. Al worked for his dad as a cheesemaker in Thorp, Wisconsin until he joined the U.S. Army. He served in the infantry in Germany during WWII under the command of General Patton.
Al married Kathleen Neiman on June 21, 1947, in St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp, Wisconsin. They moved to Oshkosh where they opened the Dixie Cream Donut Shop, Home of The World’s Finest Donuts. After 40 years of rolling in the dough, they retired in July of 1987.
Al was an active member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh where he served as an usher and as president of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program.
He and his wife Kathy enjoyed many trips around the country along with music and dancing. Polkas and waltzes were favorites. Family celebrations were a big part of his life, highlighted with time spent with his grandchildren, Packer games, gardening, and home remodeling projects. Al was a proud father and grandfather with a wonderful sense of humor. As a man of faith, he lived his life according to the Golden Rule. He will be remembered for his incredible patience, kindness, and generosity as well as his strong work ethic and dedication to his family.
Al is survived by his children, Carol (Jerry) Morris, Ron (Sue) Teclaw, Dennis Teclaw, Chris (Bill) Boelter, and Julie Teclaw (Tom Verkuilen); eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Marion, Raymond, Richard, and David.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Kathleen; brothers, Leon, Malen, and Norbert; and sisters, Florence, Angeline, Lillian, and Marcella.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, 830 S. Westhaven Dr., Oshkosh with the Rev. Quinn Mann officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park.

We are saddened by the passing of our beloved Uncle Al. We want you to know that our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family during this difficult time.
Uncle Al was an incredible man. Our memory of him will always be in our hearts. His dedication to family, community, and his service to our country left a positive impact on all of us. One of my early memories of Uncle Al was getting large bags of unsold DixieLand donuts from his business. Our family was able to use the donuts for food for our pigs on the farm. It provided an early life lesson. Do not let things go to waste. That is how I know Uncle Al led his life and is a part of the legacy he leaves. He lived life to the fullest and did not let a minute go to waste.

I remember at Mr. or Mrs. Florek's funeral, my sister Ann thought your dad was the priest. Which made sense, because to us, he was! I remember the torture of being sent to Dixie Cream for a quart of milk. Oh, that smell of donuts! And the thrill when we actually got to buy a bag of donuts. That shop and your family were very dear fixtures in the neighborhood. 100 years is a great run! I'm sorry for your loss and send you all very warm greetings.

My condolences go out to the entire Teclaw family. My Dad, Marion Teclaw, was one of Al's younger brothers. He always spoke very highly of Al. Rest in peace Uncle Al.
