It is with great sadness that we share with you the news of the passing of our beloved mother Delores “Dee” Luce. Her prayers were finally answered and she has been reunited with her husband of 65 years, Charles Luce, and the youngest of her children, Peter Jon, who lost a battle to cancer in January. Delores passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at The Residence assisted living facility in Oshkosh, WI where she had been a resident since July 12, 2023.

Delores was preceded in death by her loving husband Charles on December 1, 2011, and by her youngest son, Peter Jon Luce, who lost a four-year battle with cancer on January 10, 2023. In addition, Delores was preceded in death by two siblings, six of her late husband’s siblings, and numerous close friends.

Delores is survived by her three remaining children who will miss her love every day: David (Joni Goldman) Luce of Middleton, WI, Carrie Ann Daniels of Oshkosh, Warren (Candy) Luce of Oshkosh; and her brother-in-law Chester Luce of Appleton. In addition, Delores is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Delores was born to the late Caroline Elise Hayes (Bowers) on October 12, 1926, in Black River Falls, WI and adopted shortly thereafter by Dottie and Walter Stewart of Oshkosh. Delores married the late Charles Luce on May 20, 1949, and they lived together in Winneconne where they raised their four children.

Delores was a devoted wife and mother who encouraged her children to be forthright, honest and do the best they could in all aspects of their lives. She always put her children first, making numerous sacrifices throughout her life on their behalf and she instilled this virtue in her children. Delores loved all that nature had to offer, especially animals and the change of seasons. She was a generous person who looked forward to holidays and the opportunity to bring family and friends together.

A visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, October 9, 2023, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church 32 S. 3rd Ave. Winneconne, WI. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 9 at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Julie Peterson officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Winneconne Cemetery.

The family insists that people make donations to the Oshkosh Human Society in the name of Delores Luce in lieu of sending flowers.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at the Residence in Oshkosh for the services they provided to Delores. Special thanks go to MacKenzie Toombs, Cha’Kera Phillips, and Kourtney Dawson, each of whom demonstrated heartfelt care and compassion throughout her stay. The family would also like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to Karen Angell, who was a loyal, steadfast and supportive friend for many years.

Mueller Funeral Home-Winneconne is assisting the family. If you wish please submit online condolences to muellerfh.net.
