Where Caring Is A Family Tradition
Wilma Kathryn Kannegieter went peacefully to her Lord’s arms on November 2, 2023. Born in Comstock, MI on December 15, 1928, to Hiram and Katie (Jager) Kannegieter, Wilma was the youngest of five children. She leaves behind three generations of nieces and nephews…too numerous to count!
As a toddler, Wilma fell down the stairs and forever after had the mind and heart of a loving child. Wilma spent most of her life with her sister, Bernice Smith, and lived in Los Angeles and Ft. Bragg, CA where Bernice and her friend/business partner, Harriett Johnson, operated a home for mentally handicapped children. Wilma would proudly tell you that she participated in the Special Olympics and competed in long jump! Bernice, Harriett and Wilma relocated to WI when they retired to be near Harriett’s family. While in Butte des Morts and Omro, Wilma enjoyed going to the casino and having friends over for Bible study. Wilma loved birds, butterflies, Dairy Queen ice cream cake and the color blue.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in Wilma’s memory may be made to the Special Olympics – Wisconsin/Region 4 Fox Valley or With Ministries (worship for the disabled).
Mueller Funeral Home-Winneconne is assisting the family. If you wish please submit online condolences/memories to muellerfh.net.
Wilma’s family would like to thank Robyn and her team of “dearies” who gave Wilma such loving care for nearly six years at Care Partners in Winneconne.
